Paris Right Bank and Left Bank

Paris's Left Bank is famed for its Latin Quarter, Saint-Germain and Montparnasse, areas closely associated with intellectuals, students and artists.

The Right Bank, regarded as posher, boasts grand hotels, business quarters and major stores. While the differences between the Seine's two banks have lessened, Parisians still talk of a Left Bank spirit, more artistic and bohemian, contrasting with a Right Bank spirit, more classic and conservative.
