The Domaine départemental de Sceaux is one of the most beautiful classical estates in the Ile-de-France region.

The castle, rebuilt in the 19th century, houses the Domaine museum: It presents a new permanent tour redesigned and oriented towards "French taste from Louis XIV to Napoleon III".

From room to room, you will discover the origins of the seigneury of Sceaux and the creation of the Colbert residence, the splendor of the court of the Duke and Duchess of Maine, the delightful stay of the Duke of Penthièvre, the decline of the Sceaux estate during the Revolution and its rebirth in the 19th century under the leadership of the Trévise. The museum's collections allow you to get to know the former owners of Sceaux and immerse yourself in the history of this historical and heritage site of prime importance.

The scenography, completely revised, highlights the quality of materials – in this case beautiful silks with varied patterns and shimmering colors – for an optimal evocation of the art of living in Île-de-France from Louis XIV to Napoleon III, extreme terms of the golden age of Sceaux. This setting will allow the presentation of numerous works in direct relation to these characters, works and objects. Young and adult visitors will have access to educational and fun digital mediation means to guide them in their visit.
