The route is open all year round. From a weather perspective, we recommend planning your trip between April and October. Spring and autumn are especially pleasant seasons, with vibrant colors and greater availability of unique or offbeat accommodations.
We recommend choosing a hybrid bike or a gravel bike, both well suited for the mix of paved sections and greenways along the route.
Avoid performance road bikes, which are more fragile and more likely to suffer punctures. If needed, you can adapt a road bike by fitting it with 25 mm puncture-resistant tires.
Inner tube, pump, rain jacket...
We’ve put together a list of essential and recommended items to help you prepare — all available on this page.
When planning your trip along the Véloscénie, it’s important to ride at your own pace to avoid stress or frustration. Depending on your profile and your bike setup, here are a few guidelines:
On average, we recommend riding the full Véloscénie in about 10 days, covering roughly 50 km per day including small detours.
Of course, this depends on your available time, your daily rhythm, and who you're traveling with.
Team slow and steady or team turbo legs — it’s up to you!
The Véloscénie crosses five major railway lines, giving you access to around twenty train stations located along the route or reachable via bike-friendly connections.
The greenways are now designed to allow access for trailers, tandems, and handbikes.
Only a few spots may pose a challenge, and we've listed them on this map.
If you encounter any issues, feel free to send us a message at contact@veloscenie.com or leave a report. 📢
