 Stage description

Leave St-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse along a cycle path. Two kilometres further on, branch right if you'd like to make a stop in the town of Chevreuse.

You then continue along quiet little roads as far as Choisel. On leaving Choisel, please take care on a short stretch of less than one kilometre that temporarily shares the D24 departmental road. A dedicated cycle lane is currently being studied for this section.

After Cernay-la-Ville, you enter the Rambouillet forest along a cycle path running beside the road, then a forest track closed to motor vehicles.

 Not to be missed:

  • The town of Chevreuse: follow the "little bridges" trail (pedestrians only — cyclists must dismount) or, if you're feeling energetic, climb up to the Château de la Madeleine for a fine panoramic view over the valley.
  • Set within a 75-hectare park classified as a Jardin Remarquable, the Château de Breteuil is a furnished historic château also featuring an exhibition space bringing to life the fairy tales of Perrault (Little Red Riding Hood, Puss in Boots, Cinderella…). Perfect for families!
  • The Abbaye des Vaux de Cernay, a hotel that reveals the majestic remains of a 12th-century Cistercian abbey. Access to the site is ticketed.
  • L'Espace Rambouillet is a forest and wildlife park: birds of prey displays, guided tour by forest train, treetop walkway, exploration booklet, themed trails and seasonal events await you.
  • The Château de Rambouillet, former residence of the kings of France, also offers visits to the Queen's Dairy, the Shell Cottage and the formal French and English-style gardens.
